About
I always liked playing with electronics, pianos and photography. That led to technology. Creativity. And persuasive communication, since I had to figure out what the market and my bosses wanted, then ask them for it before I could build anything.
I sold cameras when I wasn’t studying in high school. I learned that customers bought a mix of features at a price they could afford. But I also learned they were really buying a way to freeze their memories.
I earned BSEE and MSEE degrees at the University of Illinois. I also wrote lyrics and music in rock bands. It didn’t make me famous, but it taught me how to convey a clear message in a few words.
Next, Silicon Valley - design engineering with a few patents and a turn at engineering management. Over 25 years, I learned to convince VPs and CEOs to sign up for new products. Got some of them built, and had a big success with the first Fast Ethernet transceiver chip.
Today, I consult for business-to-business clients about online and print content for marketing.
