"Great follow-up, initiative in driving the project, met the deadline." Sue
Martenson
| Every marketing project is different. Let’s talk about what you want, and your budget. Consulting and Agreement: Following an initial no-obligation, no-charge question-and-answer session, I’ll share my ideas on your marketing tactics. We’ll discuss finances. When we reach consensus, we’ll sign a simple agreement outlining responsibilities, schedules, and investment. We can do the entire question-and-answer and agreement process by telephone and fax, or in person if that makes sense. After we discuss your project and agree on a fee, I'll email the agreement to you as an attachment. Then you can simply sign and send it to me (by fax or mail) with your first payment. Research: When I receive your signed agreement and first payment, I'll ask you to arrange interviews for me with your customers and applications experts. I'll also request any previous pieces you've done: datasheets, application notes, brochures, press releases, direct mail, white papers, Website copy. Outline: I'll analyze your information and materials, choose a direction, create a concept or abstract, and write an outline of the proposed piece. You'll review the outline and abstract - you can make changes in the piece's direction at this point. This gives both of us a clear idea of what you want. First Draft: I'll incorporate your ideas and write a first draft of the piece. I'll invite your minor revisions at this point. Second Draft: The second draft includes your minor revisions. In most cases, it is the final draft. Final Draft: This version is ready for journal submission or layout by your graphic designer. Feedback: I welcome your feedback on the work and our working relationship. Fee Terms: I quote a fixed project price. It is all-inclusive, covering marketing direction, content planning, interviews, through to copywriting and polishing. My fees are near the upper end of the professional spectrum. But most clients find them affordable because of the small time and dollar cost compared to the resulting revenue. At the start of any marketing project, I expect one half of the contracted price. I expect the final half upon submission of the final draft. Revisions The price we agree on will include
two rounds of revisions to your original concept, within 30 days of submission
of the first draft. Additional revisions to your original concept will be billed
at an hourly rate. A change of creative direction means substantial rewriting, and negotiating a new agreement and fee. OK? Let's get started. | |
